Deborah has worked in the medical field for over 26 years. She began her career in the military, serving in both active duty and the reserves, as a Nurse and a Master Fitness Trainer. Deb assisted troops who were overweight to meet their weight requirements and to be able to continue to serve. She is a certified Freedom From Smoking Clinic Facilitator through the American Lung Association, and leads workshops to help people stop smoking. She received a bachelor’s degree in Natural Health Studies and Doctor of Naturopathy for Healthcare Professionals through Clayton College of Natural Health. She is also a Licensed, Registered Nurse. She has worked with private clients promoting health, developing personal fitness programs and teaching nutrition and healthy lifestyle for over 16 years.
Deb has worked as a Nurse in a hospital setting, outpatient clinics (both surgical and medical), and mental health settings. Other Work Settings: GI lab, Home Health Visiting Nurse, Hospice, School Nurse (private school for children with special needs, K-12).
As a result of her extensive experience as a Nurse, she realized the key to optimum health is prevention. She believes that many “modern day” diseases are preventable with a healthy lifestyle, and attitude. After working in the hospitals, Deborah knew that the hospital is no place for a sick person. Many of the procedures and tests were worse than the actual disease itself. She wished she could’ve helped these patients before they were so sick and assisted them to a better quality of life through education and support instead of giving comfort measures only. She has enjoyed helping individuals become and stay healthy so much that she shifted her focus from saving lives to improving the quality of lives. She knows that it is the quality of life that matters and not the quantity. What is the point of living to be 100 years old when it is in ill health? Deb works with individuals who are ready to take personal responsibility for their own health and who are willing to make lifestyle changes to reach their personal health goals.
Deb is known to friends and family as a health enthusiast. She has always had an interest in learning about health and nutrition. Her own health problems lead her to the realization that most issues can be improved by natural approaches. She chose the name Health Flow because she believes that your health is your most valuable asset. Health Flow is an educational based business that focuses on prevention and improved quality of life.
Deb’s mission is empowering individuals that want to take charge of their own health and make positive changes. Deb works with a wide variety of clients and actively supports individuals in meeting their health care goals.
